How the Profit / Loss Calculator Works

Enter your buy price (the price per token when you purchased), your sell price (current price or target exit), and your investment amount. The calculator divides your investment by the buy price to find how many tokens you hold, multiplies by the sell price to get current value, then subtracts your original investment to show net profit or loss — plus the percentage return on capital.

Useful for evaluating open positions, planning exit strategies at specific price targets, or reviewing past trades. Works for Bitcoin, Ethereum, altcoins, or any asset with a known buy and sell price.

Frequently Asked Questions

This basic P&L calculator uses raw buy/sell prices without fees. For fee-inclusive break-even pricing, use the Break-Even Calculator which factors in both buy and sell fee percentages.
The calculator shows a negative P&L and a negative percentage return, reflecting your loss. Useful for tax-loss harvesting planning — knowing exactly how much you've lost before realising a sale.
Yes. Enter the proportion of your investment corresponding to the tokens you're selling. For example, if you invested $1,000 total but are only selling half, enter $500 as the investment amount.
A 10x return means your sell price is 10× your buy price, which equals a +900% return — not +1000%. A true +1000% would be an 11x. The calculator shows the precise percentage so there's no ambiguity.
No — this is a spot trading P&L calculator. For leveraged trades, your actual profit and loss would be multiplied by your leverage factor. Use the Position Size Calculator for sizing leveraged trades.
Tokens bought = Investment Amount ÷ Buy Price. This reflects how many whole and fractional tokens your capital purchased at that entry price.
